The Oswego Reformed Presbyterian church was planted by the Lord through the Syracuse Reformed Presbyterian Church in the late 1970s. A family from Oswego heard Pastor Edward Robson’s Bible study on WMHR radio and traveled to Syracuse to worship with the Reformed Presbyterian Church that Pastor Robson served.

Another family from the Syracuse church moved to Oswego in connection with the husband’s new employment there. Associate Pastor Charles Leach started a Bible study in Oswego and then also evening worship services.

Kit Swartz was a pastoral intern in Syracuse and assisted Pastor Leach. After Pastor Leach was called to missionary service in Japan, Mr. Swartz continued the work and morning worship services were added to the weekly schedule. The mission church was organized as a congregation in October 1980 and Mr. Swartz was called to serve as the pastor. He was ordained to the pastoral ministry and installed to serve the Oswego congregation on December 2, 1980.
